About OstrichPro

Founded by Adnan TUNÇTÜRK

OstrichPro was created to become a practical, research-driven resource dedicated to one of the world’s most fascinating birds: the ostrich.

Ostriches are often presented in extremes. They may be portrayed as exotic animals, unusual wildlife, or simply as an alternative livestock opportunity with high economic potential. Yet finding reliable, structured, and balanced information that brings together their biology, behavior, farming, health, products, and ecological context is surprisingly difficult.

OstrichPro was created to help fill that gap.

The Story Behind OstrichPro

The idea for OstrichPro grew from my professional background and my experience living and working in Tanzania.

I have worked as an environmental engineer for more than 13 years, with a professional interest in the relationship between people, natural resources, and the environment. Living and working in Tanzania has also provided an opportunity to spend time in a country where wildlife, agriculture, climate, and natural landscapes are closely connected.

That experience changed the way I look at many animals and ecosystems.

Tanzania’s landscapes make it difficult to separate environmental questions from everyday reality. Climate, water availability, land use, agriculture, wildlife, and human activity are all connected. Spending time around these environments naturally led me to become increasingly interested in how animals adapt to challenging conditions and how agricultural systems can work within environmental limits rather than against them.

Ostriches are a remarkable example.

Their ability to survive in hot, dry environments, travel efficiently across open landscapes, and reproduce in challenging conditions raises fascinating biological and agricultural questions.

Those questions became the foundation for OstrichPro.

Why Ostriches?

My interest in ostriches is not based solely on their potential as livestock.

I am fascinated by the animal itself.

Ostriches are extraordinary from a biological perspective. They are the largest living birds, remarkably adapted to life on the ground, capable of impressive speeds, and able to survive in environments where heat and limited water availability can present serious challenges.

At the same time, ostriches have an increasingly interesting place in agriculture.

Their meat, leather, eggs, feathers, breeding potential, and relatively strong adaptation to warm and dry environments make ostrich farming a subject worth examining seriously.

But serious examination requires more than looking at potential profits.

It requires understanding the animal, the environment, the resources required, the economics involved, and the practical challenges faced by farmers.

That is the perspective OstrichPro aims to bring.

An Environmental Engineer’s Perspective

My professional background in environmental engineering naturally influences the way I approach OstrichPro.

I tend to look beyond individual facts and ask how the pieces fit together.

When discussing ostrich farming, for example, questions about breeding and feed cannot be separated completely from land, water, climate, infrastructure, animal welfare, resource efficiency, and economics.

This is why OstrichPro approaches ostrich-related subjects from several different perspectives:

The goal is not to present ostrich farming as an easy business opportunity or to repeat popular claims simply because they sound impressive.

The goal is to understand what is actually known, what remains uncertain, and what practical realities people should consider.

A Personal Connection to Nature

My interest in OstrichPro is also deeply connected to a broader appreciation for nature and wildlife.

I have always been interested in the natural world and in the ways animals adapt to their environments. Living in Tanzania has made that interest much more tangible.

There is something very different about learning about wildlife from a book and seeing animals moving through their natural environment.

Watching ostriches in open landscapes, observing their behavior, and seeing how naturally they fit into harsh and expansive environments makes their biology much more than a collection of facts.

It gives those facts context.

That connection with nature is one of the reasons I want OstrichPro to remain more than a farming website. Ostriches are animals first, and understanding them properly means understanding both their biological needs and the environments in which they evolved.

What OstrichPro Aims to Do

OstrichPro exists to bring together reliable information that is often scattered across scientific literature, agricultural resources, experienced farming practices, and other credible sources.

The site covers a wide range of subjects, including:

Some subjects are highly scientific. Others are practical. Some are simply fascinating questions about one of the world’s most unusual birds.

All of them contribute to a better understanding of the ostrich.

Our Approach to Information

OstrichPro is built around a simple principle:

Good information should be useful, balanced, and grounded in reality.

We aim to:

  1. Start with reliable fundamentals.
  2. Use scientific and credible sources whenever possible.
  3. Distinguish established facts from estimates and claims.
  4. Avoid exaggerated promises and popular myths.
  5. Connect biological knowledge with practical applications.
  6. Update information when better evidence becomes available.
  7. Present both opportunities and limitations honestly.

Not every question about ostriches has a simple answer.

Biological variation, regional differences, farming conditions, climate, and individual circumstances can all affect the answer. Where meaningful uncertainty exists, OstrichPro aims to acknowledge it rather than hide it behind an overly confident statement.

Who OstrichPro Is For

OstrichPro is intended for anyone who wants to understand ostriches better.

That includes:

Whether you are here because you are fascinated by ostrich eggs, researching ostrich farming, wondering how fast an ostrich can run, or trying to understand the economics of ostrich production, the goal is the same: to provide useful information you can trust and build upon.

Looking Ahead

OstrichPro is still growing.

The long-term goal is to build a comprehensive and continually improving reference resource covering as many important aspects of the ostrich as possible.

That includes deeper work on breeding, nutrition, health, farming systems, infrastructure, economics, products, environmental adaptation, and the many biological questions that make ostriches so interesting.

There is still a great deal to explore.

And that is part of the reason OstrichPro exists.

Our Visual Content and Copyright

At OstrichPro, we use visual content to make complex topics about ostriches, their biology, history, farming, and products easier to understand. Many of the illustrations featured across our articles are created with AI-assisted tools, including Google Gemini, and selected to complement the information presented in each article.

AI-generated visuals are intended for educational and illustrative purposes. They may depict conceptual scenes rather than exact photographic records of real events. We aim to make our visuals relevant, informative, and consistent with the subject of each article.

Unless otherwise stated, original content published on OstrichPro, including our written materials and original visual assets, is protected by applicable copyright laws. Please contact us for permission before reproducing or commercially using our original materials.

A Note From the Founder

I did not create OstrichPro because I believe there is a shortage of websites talking about ostriches.

I created it because I believe there is room for a better resource.

A resource that takes the animal seriously.

A resource that does not turn every farming question into a promise of easy profit.

A resource that respects science, acknowledges uncertainty, and considers the environmental realities surrounding agriculture and wildlife.

And, perhaps most importantly, a resource built by someone who genuinely enjoys learning about these extraordinary animals.

That is what I hope OstrichPro becomes over time.

Welcome to OstrichPro.
